Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech & Drama - posted 5th Mar

We were delighted for the Swifts to perform as a choir at this year’s Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama at 10am on Saturday 5th March 2022 at Bedford Corn Exchange. They sang beautifully and won 1st place in their category!! What an achievement - well done to all the Swifts who took part.

World Book Day - posted 3rd Mar

This year, World Book Day looked a little different but it did not stop us celebrating it! Various activities were undertaken both within school and for those learning at home which included a 'guess the Masked Reader' quiz which the children thoroughly enjoyed; making toilet roll book covers and characters; learning about DNA and solving crimes with author of the DNA Detectives (Dr Mandy Hartley); and our youngest pupils setting off on a Bear Hunt around the school grounds. All children should have now received their World Book Day token which they can use to exchange for one of this year's books up to the 31st March.

Faith Tour (Years 3 & 4) - posted 23rd Feb

As part of our project about ‘Why and how different religions work’, Year 3 and Year 4 pupils went to take part in the Faith Tour in Queens Park Bedford. During this tour they visited three places of worship, The Guru Nanak Gurdwara, The Jamia Masjid Gulshane Baghdad Mosque and All Saints Parish Church. Queens Park Bedford is rich in both culture and religion with Christians, Muslims and Sikhs living in harmony together. Teaching pupils to value and understand different religions is an essential part of the national curriculum and is an Ofsted requirement.

Who is Bedford? - posted 8th Feb

Who is Bedford? has been created by Full House Theatre in partnership with The Higgins Bedford, to explore and celebrate the heritage of Bedford and the people who live here, celebrating everything that makes Bedford the vibrant town it is today. We were lucky to have them come to our school for Years 2, 3 & 4 to take part in this inspiring arts and heritage activity. Using interactive audio technology, this innovative experience in our school hall provided opportunities for learning across the curriculum from drama, citizenship and PSHE. This project was funded by Bedford Borough Youth Empowerment Fund.

Skipping Day - posted 3rd Feb

The Skip2BFit Company came into school on Thursday 3rd February and got us all skipping! The pupils had to see how many skips they could do in 2 minutes, set a Personal Best score, and then try and beat it. Some of the staff even got involved! We had a fabulous day and all the pupils got a box of blueberries at the end of the day. Some pupils purchased skipping ropes from them and have been practicing in the playground at breaktimes.

Raptor Foundation Experience - posted 2nd Feb

On Wednesday 2nd February the Robins and Doves had a talk and demonstration by a representative from the Raptor Foundation. They brought along a selection of birds for the children to see. It was very informative. Unfortunately this year the children were not be able to hold the birds due to Covid.
